‘Little Skookum’

Flowers mauve; VIII-IX; foliage grey-green; habit low-growing, creeping with swirling branches; height 12-20cm; spread 45cm after 7 years. “One of the lowest silvers. Both ‘Grey Carpet‘ and ‘Silver Cloud‘ are much taller than listed here. It has a more swirling pattern than those two.”

Chance seedling found in her nursery and propagated by Karla Lortz. Pacific Northwest Native American name for a local river.

‘Sonnenzwerg’

Flowers white; VII-VIII; foliage yellow; height 20 cm; spread  30 cm after 3 years.

The name means “sun pygmy” referring to foliage colour and dwarf habit.

‘Ronsdorf ‘

Lavender (RHS75A, H3) flowers, darker than ‘Charnwood Pink‘; X-IV;  habit more compact than ‘Charnwood Pink‘; foliage green.  Raised by Kurt Kramer in 2000.

Named after Georg Arends, of Wuppertal Ronsdorf, the renowned German plant breeder and nurseryman was the first to raise the hybrid.

‘Phantom’

Flowers single,corolla white; VII-IX; calyx lobes green, unequal, fused only at base;  4-lobed; lobes with very sparse hairs in bud; stamens 8, short; filaments ±2mm long, free or variously and irregularly fused in groups of 2-3; anthers small, thecae pale red when young turning pale tan; foliage light green; young shoots yellow; habit  low-growing; height ±15cm: spread 30cm after 4 years.
Deliberately bred seedling raised in 1986 from crosses made the year before; Erica tetralixAlba Mollis‘ x Erica vagansLyonesse‘.
